How this estimate is built

Figures follow HMRC England PAYE, category A National Insurance, and student loan recovery for tax year 2026 to 2027. Source checked August 2026. GOV.UK employer rates 2026 to 2027.

What we include

Tax code (or 1257L if you leave it blank), overtime, a one-off bonus month, pension as net pay, salary sacrifice, or auto-enrolment qualifying earnings, Plan 1, 2 or 5 student loan, postgraduate loan, cash allowances, taxable benefits, and extra deductions you type.

What we leave out

Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland tax, childcare vouchers, marriage allowance, Blind Person’s Allowance, and which week of the tax year the bonus lands. We do not tell you to use a pension instead of an ISA.

Self-employed and company income are a separate calculator. This page is an estimate from figures you type, not payroll software.

Common questions

How does the take-home calculator work?

You enter salary (yearly, monthly, or weekly), optional tax code, overtime, a one-off bonus, pension, and student loan (Plan 1, Plan 2, or Plan 5, plus postgraduate). Weezz estimates income tax, employee National Insurance, student loan, and leftover pay for England PAYE in tax year 2026 to 2027. A bonus stays in one month. It is not spread over the year. Weezz shows information and estimates from your figures, not financial advice.

Which tax year and nation is this?

Tax year 2026 to 2027 (6 April 2026 to 5 April 2027). England PAYE and category A National Insurance only. Weezz does not use Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland rates on this page. Rates from GOV.UK employer thresholds, checked August 2026. Weezz shows information and estimates from your figures, not financial advice.

What counts as a bonus month?

A bonus or commission is a one-off in a single month. Weezz shows a typical month and a bonus month. Pension stays on regular pay (salary, overtime, cash allowance), not on the bonus. Weezz shows information and estimates from your figures, not financial advice.

How is pension calculated?

Type the employee amount you already pay, as a percent or as pounds a year. Net pay takes tax relief and still charges NI on full pay. Salary sacrifice reduces tax and NI. Auto-enrolment uses qualifying earnings. Weezz does not recommend a pension, an ISA, or any wrapper.

Can I use this for self-employed income?

No. This page is England PAYE only. Self-employed and company income need a different calculator. Weezz shows information and estimates from your figures, not financial advice.
